Responsibilities

  • Interpret welding process specifications and instructions
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, manuals, and specifications
  • Operate manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated welding equipment
  • Perform TIG (GTAW) and GMAW welding on various metal components
  • Examine completed welds to ensure they meet quality and specification standards
  • Operate flame-cutting and oxygen arc cutting (arc-air) equipment
  • Determine weldability of materials before fabrication or repair
  • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment safely
  • Fabricate or repair metal parts using previously set-up welding machines
  • Maintain welding, brazing, and soldering equipment and perform minor repairs
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and quality control standards

Requirements

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of welding experience
  • Authorization to work in Canada
  • Willingness to relocate if required
  • Experience working with aluminum alloys and stainless steel
  • Ability to read and interpret welding drawings and specifications
  • Strong understanding of welding safety practices

Skills

  • TIG (GTAW) and GMAW welding techniques
  • Blueprint and specification interpretation
  • Attention to detail and quality inspection
  • Operation of welding and cutting equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
